The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies

hr_The_Hobbit-_The_Battle_of_the_Five_Armies_27I know it’s been a while but following a busy time for everyone, I decided this was a good time to start sharing my thoughts aloud on the movie business again. And, I’ve got the perfect one in mind. If you know a little about me, you would know that I love the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. So with that bit of information, you can guess what my topic will be for this session. Now I didn’t share my opinion about this but, I loved The Desolation of Smaug. I loved the story and I thought all thirteen dwarves were defined as characters which is a feat that is very hard to do. Smaug was also a very cool character with his power and way with words. Tauriel was a strong character even with being new. Everyone wondered where her relationship with Kili will go. The second movie hyped everyone up for the last movie and I was hyped. The beloved series was ending and it’s about a huge war, plus the trailers looked awesome, so I was extremely excited. Now let’s take a look at The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies.

Lake townThe dragon Smaug has just left the Lonely Mountain to attack the small town just on the lake on the outskirts of the Mountain, due to Bilbo’s accidental mistake in the last movie. While the dragon is burning Lake-Town, Bard escapes and with the new character of his son’s help, he does the famous deed he also performs in the book. With that action, Thorin becomes the official king under the mountain. But, this isn’t such a good thing after all. Like his grandfather, he slowly becomes selfish, untrusting, and unkind due not only to his new-found power but his love of gold and his obsession with the Arkenstone. These newly found attributes do not bode well to the homeless people of Lake-Town who have set up camp in the ruins of Dale where there is no food. Thorin promised those people their fair share of treasure from the vast riches of the mountain earlier but that is not happening. Also, Bilbo is the one who has the Arkenstone in his possession and being the good friend that he is, doesn’t give it to Thorin knowing that it will make his sickness even worse. To make the situation even more complicated, the Elves arrive with food and supplies gaining an alliance with the people of Dale. But, the true reason the Elves are there is because that the Elf King wants treasure in the mountain dearly and is willing to go to war with the Dwarf Company. The biggest problem that faces the good people of the story is that, if you paid attention last movie you would know, Azog is leading a gigantic army of Orcs to take the mountain.

The-Hobbit-The-Battle-of-the-Five-Armies-5The Battle of Five Armies is supposed to be an absolutely huge war for Middle Earth. I wanted it to be Peter Jackson’s best battle yet; even better than the two big battles in the Return of the King. But, it was not to be. I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed in that aspect. I wanted it to be a full-scale battle that used a huge piece of land to do it, more creative new weapons and monsters, and bigger armies. I didn’t imagine the battle to be directly in front of the mountain and it to be a surprise when the orcs showed up. I would’ve liked if the Orcs didn’t use the Earth-Worms and just marched to a lot of open land with the Mountain pretty far away and the armies of men, elves, and dwarves standing in their way ready for battle. I was fine with the fighting in Dale. I just think that the fighting should’ve been more ferocious, Dale should’ve been weathered down even more such as buildings being knocked down, and all three armies were fighting in it. I was sad that it didn’t show the company fighting at all when they emerge from the mountain. For all we know, the war wasn’t even a challenge for the dwarves except for the four dwarves who went up to fight separately. And if you have seen the movie and remember it, we both probably have the same issue with the rams. And for those who are going to see it, it’s obvious and totally fixable. Maybe it’s fixed in the extended editions (which I highly recommend seeing for the first and second movies if you haven’t).

battle-of-the-five-armiesSo, I thought that the plot and fighting could’ve used some tweaking. Unfortunately, I have another problem with not just the plot but certain characters too. And those characters were Tauriel and Alfrid. Tauriel was perfect in the second movie but in this movie she didn’t have much of a point. She didn’t kill Bolg, she couldn’t save her love, and we don’t know what becomes of her. She was a very different character compared to the second movie. The other issue was Alfrid. He was alright in the second movie and didn’t have so much screen time that it was a little annoying. But in this movie, Bard gives him all of these important tasks when he knows that Alfrid is cowardly and selfish and fails pretty much everyone. At least, he could’ve explained why he trusted Alfrid. Also, Alfrid too didn’t have much point or it wasn’t explained. Maybe he is supposed to be a comedic relief. I can understand the want for that but that should’ve been emphasized and he shouldn’t have had that much screen time.

Even though I wrote about negatives, I liked the movie overall. I liked Thorin mental changes in it. I liked Bilbo as always. Legolas was sweet in this movie and his fight on the fallen tower was great. I actually really liked Thorin against Azog and I was fine with the length of it too. I was only okay with Bard in this movie. I don’t think he was as strong in this movie compared to the previous one due to his unusual trust in Alfrid and him not leading the men on the plains. Although, one of my favorite scenes was the burning of Lake-Town scene. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and is still a Middle-Earth. I just thought it could’ve improved but if you’re a Middle-Earth fan, watch it in theaters. If not, I still recommend seeing it.

The Wolverine

the_wolverineAs you may all know, I am very fond of good superhero movies and that includes the X-men movies. Now when I saw the preview for this movie, I was at first mad that they were making an X-men movie without any mutants but then I thought there’s bound to at least be one besides Logan and if they make it good, I will forgive Marvel for the Ninjas.  So since there are no hard feelings between me and Marvel’s decisions, I was ready to see the next X-men.

Logan starts his movie in the Yukon living his life, homeless, forced to bear the burden of immortality. He also bears the burden of killing his love and has nightmares and visions of her, daily. He finds himself about to kill over a bear similar to his fate until, he is saved by a Japanese fortune teller. He then goes to Japan thinking about a goodbye to a dying man but then is offered a request he can’t refuse. In the middle of the movie we find Logan, a mere man, nothing more nothing less, GASP!

the-wolverine-movie-2013-PHOTOI enjoyed this movie. The fights were cool; they had the pizzazz that makes a fight unique but still awesome. The ninjas were really good. The giant Samurai was great because it had flaming swords, was huge, and was strong enough to beat Logan’s claws. It’s just that you couldn’t tell which villain was chasing the duo and whose men were whose. I didn’t like the Viper at all. She went behind the scenes too much. She didn’t really have a cause for being evil and basically announced she was a villain in the final scene. I also didn’t like that through the movie, her men can take out your men and told the Japanese Hawkeye that she owned him and paraded her power but then had kind of a lame fight. She couldn’t do bizarre or powerful except, shed her skin, make things come out of her mouth, and have a long tongue. I know that the final boss was the Samurai but she was paraded throughout the movie even while behind the scenes and didn’t have claws or fangs or whatever a snake lady can do.

I was a little disappointed. This really didn’t feel like an X-men movie or related to one (except for the Logan and the credits, which I don’t think count). Although, my family members liked it a lot more than I did, blog is about how I feel so read another review if you disagree. That doesn’t mean I didn’t like it, I still said I enjoyed it. If you’re an X-Men fan, well you might be a little disappointed and want to wait to rent it. If you love scenic views of Japan and watching some cool fights on the big screen, then go see in the movie theater before it’s too late.

Despicable Me 2

Here is a post from my little brother – he reviews kid-friendly movies.

Despicable Me 2

by Samuel Smith

despicable-me-2-banner-newWhen I saw this movie, I went with my dad and a friend. I was really excited for it because I saw the first one and I loved it. I thought the first one was hilarious! I really liked the minions in it so I was hoping for the second to have more scenes with the minions. Which they did.

This movie is about a master criminal mind, named Groo, whose heart was changed by three little girls. Then he became a loving father. But when he was accepted into another criminal job, he encountered trouble of love. She was a silly girl named Lucy. Together they had to find out who took a special serum that made things indestructible, and stop them once and for all.

despicable-me-2-paradise-3What I really liked about the movie were the minions. They where hilarious just like in the first movie. I liked them because they are small little stupid yellow characters that always laugh to the word, “butt.” What I also liked about the movie was the story line. I really liked how well thought out it was.

So over all, I think this movie is for all ages and would make any one laugh. I would highly recommend seeing this movie in the theaters and not wait to rent.

World War Z

zombie pictureI usually don’t see movies like this one; in fact, l have never seen a Zombie movie. But when you’re invited to a boy’s movie night, you just can’t resist. I don’t know much about the book, I just know it’s supposed to be pretty good. I was also willing to see this movie because the previews claimed the movie was really well done and made the movie look more intriguing and scary than it is.

Anyway, the movie is about how ordinary life is suddenly destroyed by a virus, with its origins unknown, and it kills people turning them into so-called Zombies. A certain man and his family are able to escape their infected home to a U.S. boat. The only way for this family to stay on the boat is for the man to travel the world trying to find answers for this random catastrophe.

Zombie confusionThis movie was really, really good. The Zombies weren’t scary, but the movie was very suspenseful. It had moments you wouldn’t except to happen and it had its hack and slash moments also. I love the beginning of the movie the best. Brad Pitt gets out of the car and its utter confusion. People are running, screaming, chasing others, and on hoods of cars – you can’t tell who is infected and there were car crashes left and right. You say “wow” when you see it. I also like that the Zombies don’t eat brains; it’s one of the first times were the Zombies are fast, and its spread from a virus located in the teeth. It also had moments of total war and extermination caused by humans, but also Zombies. I didn’t know what to think when I left the theater, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it.

Brad Pitt vs. zombies

I didn’t find anything that was distinctly bad about this movie. Maybe, that the Zombies acted like animals and they made a funny beaver noise. I don’t think this movie is for everyone but maybe for Zombie, action, suspense, and Brad Pitt lovers. He did an excellent job even though he barley escapes death like three times. I liked this movie and I thought it was well done and it had everything a good Zombie movie should have.

Star Trek Into Darkness

cartoon-sun-hiWe’re back at the happy time of the year, which I like to call (I don’t know what you guys call it), summer! The sun is shining, sand is sparkling, school is out, and how could I forget (actually, I never forgot), summer blockbusters have been released! I know I haven’t posted since January (I wrote this blog before Superman, but just now posting it), but movies have been lying down and have been waiting for the UAV Ultraviolet Rays.

star-trek-into-darkness-teaser-poster-01-1000x1479So I had the pleasure of finally being inside a movie theater (AFTER 5 MONTHS…! I’m sorry! Don’t look at me as I recover myself, it’ll ruin my reputation) and seeing the second Star Trek. I remember watching many, many of the old episodes and movies with grandma/noni. They are really good! The first movie of the new Star Trek saga was really good! My dad and I love it! He’s still mad at me that I saw the second one without him. I was very excited to see one of the first of 2013’s summer hits.

The Enterprise crew has been formed and prospers until one mission when Kirk disobeys the mission’s rules to save Spock. Spock files a mission report, Kirk gets mad, and then Captain Kirk loses the Enterprise and is sent down to first officer while Spock is sent to another ship. While this happens, a terrorist goes and blows up an archive. The terrorist strikes again during a Star Fleet meeting and results in Kirk being Captain again and sends Spock back to his old place. Their mission is to kill the terrorist whose reasons are unknown.

star_trek_into_darkness_5This movie was great and was as good as the last one. It had a very prosperous plotline. This movie had good laser fights, on the ground and off it. I especially liked when the Enterprise was traveling in warp speed and the enemy caught up and started to shoot it down. The only thing I didn’t like is that the Enterprise was destroyed too much. When it is shot down, the power and its hidden beauty is also shot down and it was never shot down in the old series.

I didn’t see anything bad in the movie, but it didn’t have traits that were outstanding. It was good, but you could wait to rent it.

Man of Steel

I’m not particularly fond of Superman; in fact, I think he’s too overpowered. In the comics, he gets revived from the dead, can travel at the speed of light, and a nuke can’t kill him, but he’s still a superhero and I happily said yes to see the Man of Steel.

thCAXR0LCDIt begins on the planet Krypton, witnessing Kal-El’s birth. The planet is dying from an overused core and the General of the Army, Zod, has started mutiny against the planet’s council. Kal-El was the only natural Krypton birth in centuries so his parents decided that he could be the only one to make a choice about the future of the Krpytonian race so they sent him off of Krypton while Krypton was destroyed. The alien boy, now named Clark Kent, must learn to use his powers on the planet called Earth to either save its people or destroy them.

This movie was excellent and had a lot more plot than I thought it would. I thought that Earth would be threatened and Superman would solve his problem by smashing it, but it wasn’t like that. I liked how it got into an in-depth Krypton history. I was also very happy that Superman wasn’t the 2-D, no personality Superman. He was sad, angry, lonely, inspired, and loving, personalities normal people have. I also thought Jor-El (Superman’s father, played by Russell Crowe) was a huge factor in this movie. Most people liked the beginning the best.

thCAI7WOV7The movie had several intense moments where you would be on the edge of your seat because it was really emotional, sad, or just plain cool. The main aspect of this movie was that it was very intense and over the top. Some people who watched it didn’t like that the action kept going on and were even bored with so much action, but I think one had to understand the plot or not be paying attention to feel this way. In comparison, many people, like me,  didn’t feel that the action scenes were too much. The fights in this movie are one big example of the intense factor. These guys were being thrown and throwing others through buildings left and right. I think it would’ve helped if the director made the destruction to be controlled and limit the throwing and the smashing through.

One thing that I do feel strongly about is that Lois Lane was too important. I liked the reporter sense about her but I thought at certain times she was too emotional about Superman and Krypton. She was also taken to a military base, and then taken into the enemy ship, then falls from it, then helps decide the plan to defeat Zod, and then is in an US military aircraft designed for war and then falls. She is a reporter, reporters don’t do that. I think she could’ve watched from the sidelines in a couple of scenes. Also, there was one part that I fully understand but it was kind of iffy was when Mr. Kent goes back into a tornado for the dog.

Man_Of_Steel_Image_05This movie totally blew away my expectations. When you leave the  movie you think  that Superman is the coolest superhero ever. This movie had great CGI and special effects. I would recommend not waiting to rent it – see it in the movie theater! It’s definitely a big-screen blockbuster!

Lincoln

Lincoln_2-001_s640x427I have always wanted to see and predict the movie of the year and I have a pretty good shot in 2012. Coming out of that movie I now know that the 16th is my favorite president. You’re probably saying that this is not a usual Asher movie review. It’s hard to say but, History is my favorite subject, there I said it, and the damage is done. History is really interesting to me and I’m learning about Lincoln in school so I wanted to see this movie. I thought I knew why Lincoln was great. He stopped the Civil War and led us through a time of crisis. The movie’s focus was on another reason and you’ll have to see the movie to find that reason out or you might already know it. I think that this movie wasn’t just made to entertain. I think this movie was made to honor Lincoln as a person and to say thank you from the United States of America. This movie was a perfect description of how Lincoln was a president like no president before or after. The amount of respect for one man radiated from the people leaving that theater, it was unbelievable.

lincolninthewhitehousesilhouetteThe movie was historically accurate in every fact I knew. I don’t know why but usually I tend to remember the small facts easier than the big picture in anything with information and that helped me in this case. Every fact I knew about this subject was accurate in this movie. For example, in the Civil War, both sides had such little supplies of ammunition and weapons, they were fighting with bayonets, hand to hand combat, hitting each other with their gun butts, choking each other, and using natural resources. Another example is that the Secretary of War, Stanton, was a very serious person, never laughed, and got very annoyed when Lincoln got playful and started telling jokes. Both of those facts were in the movie. I was very happy that the movie accurately portrayed who Lincoln was. Lincoln wasn’t menacing or great. He had a little bit of a soft voice and spoke slowly and with a lot of passion. He didn’t look as tall as he is because he slouched and Lincoln was very kind. He cared for people no one else cared for. Daniel Day Lewis was the perfectly cast as Lincoln because his acting and speeches were overwhelming. You could feel his words flowing through your body. I didn’t say this directly until now, but the movie, Lincoln, was excellent!

Steven Spielberg did it again.

The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey

the-hobbit-an-unexpected-journey-5046ac439a30fYes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! I’m so happy that after all of those long years without an awesome fantasy series, (besides from Harry Potter) one has gone back in time to tell us big folk about its origins. Drumroll please, The Lord of the Rings has come back to tell us its origins, dramatic freeze, the Hobbit. The Lord of the Rings is so cool and I love the series so you can probably imagine how I feel about the Hobbit. I love the book. I really liked the movie and thought it was very good. This next sentence is probably the worst sentence ever: I WAS DISAPPOINTED! WAAAHHHH! Now that I think of it, I should’ve known that it could never have been as good as the Lord of the Rings. Here’s why:

About the Story

The story is about how a Hobbit named, Bilbo Baggins, decides to tell his nephew, Frodo Baggins, about what really happened to him when he was a younger Bilbo when he had an unexpected party with dwarves and a wizard and it turned into an unexpected journey.

On this unexpected journey, Bilbo and the 13 dwarves mission is to travel to the lonely mountain and to take it back from a dragon named, Smaug. During their travels, they face many dangers including trolls, goblins, and a creature named Gollum. That is the main story of the movie and of the book.

Twists in The Movie – Not in Book

The movie does have some twists that the book doesn’t have. One example is the part about the dwarf’s leader, Thorin, who once fought in a battle over a mine named Moria. Thorin fought a very big and powerful pale orc that killed a lot people Thorin loved. Thorin then defeated the pale orc and sent him to the darkness. The movie continues the story line and has the pale orc come back with a pack of orcs and wargs to have revenge and kill Thorin.

Radagast_the_Brown_Hobbit_promotional_photoAnother twist that the movie has and the book doesn’t is about wizards. A wizard named Radagast the Brown finds a ruined city that holds a necromancer that practices black magic. Radagast informs Gandalf the Gray of his encounter who then informs three of the most powerful beings of middle earth – an amazing scene overlooking Rivendell and the only scene with Galadriel (the only women in the entire movie). In the book it is only briefly mentioned in one paragraph and the movie expounds on it and takes up quite a bit of time building that part of the story line.

What The Movie Needed

The twists Peter Jackson included in this movie were necessary. The movie ends with the lonely mountain in the distance, which is a likely place to stop in the book, although, it doesn’t entice a person who hasn’t read the book to look forward to the next movie. Because of these twists the book doesn’t have people like me who have read the book more than four times wondering if Gandalf will discover the necromancer or if the pale orc will succeed.

The-Hobbit-An-Unexpected-Journey-33795_1A Magic Fight.

Another thing the movie needed was a magic fight, a fight that is so unbelievable. For example, in the prologue of the Fellowship of the Ring, there was a battle where men and elves were fighting, on the slopes of an active volcano, against thousands of orcs. The men would line up and hold their long swords up and when the orcs came they would all swing their swords in a, simultaneously, upward circle. The elves would shoot their arrows at orcs that would then fall off a cliff and hundreds of orcs would be falling off a cliff. Then someone named Saroun came on the battlefield, he would swing his mace and make dozens of people fly. Another example of an unbelievable was in the Two Towers, when Gandalf was falling while basically fighting the devil. If you’re going to be related to the Lord of the Rings, you’ve got to have the battle with female voices practically yelling while someone is dying which every movie had. I don’t think the reason the movie didn’t have a magic battle was because our expectations were too high because after two awesome movies, the third won “film of the year.”

Character Development.

The reason why Unexpected Journey could never have been as good as Lord of the Rings was because the movie was about dwarves. Dwarves don’t show a lot of emotion and character development and this movie needed that. It also didn’t have themes in character development which every movie had and that was mostly because of the ring. Frodo was a very kind and nice Hobbit but throughout the movies you saw him change. He and the ring showed the themes of power, evil inside all of us, and how value can change people. This movie didn’t have that at all. The only character development that was in the movie was that Bilbo was needed even though he was peaceful. I don’t that was a very good theme and the movie needed more themes and character development or make the theme more of a struggle than a triumph.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected JourneyLess Story Building.

Another flaw was that this movie had a lot of story building and because of that the Hobbit might’ve lost some fans because after all these years people wanted to see something awesome. I still loved the movie and I’m even more excited for the next one, because there isn’t going to be as much story building and maybe there will be a lot of cool scenes that could be the magic battle.

Even though this movie had a lot of disappointments, they would have been very hard to fix because this story allows a lot of these flaws to come in. Even though, I still enjoyed this movie and I think I’m going to love the next one.

The Dark Knight Rises

You know how I said Spiderman is one of my favorite superheroes? Well, Batman is my all-time favorite superhero! He’s a total stud! He’s really smart, he can take out 20 guys with his hands, and he has the coolest gadgets ever. I was really excited to see The Dark Knight Rises movie because I absolutely loved The Dark Knight and I wanted to see what else they could do (plus we got to see it at a drive theater, double feature – Score!) All right, before I begin I should probably tell you what this movie was about.

Just to Fill You In

Bruce Wayne has kept himself “locked” up in his mansion for the last eight years which also means there has been no Batman fighting crime in Gotham City for past eight years either. With some persuasion from a young detective named Blake and the ambition to get his mother’s pearls back from a cat burglar called Selina Kyle, Bruce finally comes out of “the box.” The reason Batman comes out of his dark cave was for a villain called Bane and his terrible plan for the city.

I’m just going to say this movie made me sad. Batman can do so much better than this rendition and he is so much cooler than he was made out to be in this latest movie.

What Happened to the Bane From the Comic Books?

First of all, I didn’t like Bane at all. He wasn’t a good villain – he just didn’t click for me. Sure he had a villainous plan, but it wasn’t even his. Sure he’s strong, but all I saw was him punching Batman and Batman getting hurt. He didn’t have the unique and powerful villain attributes. For example, the Joker, he was so crazy and so mad you didn’t want to see what he’ll do next or who he’ll hurt next but you stayed in your seat. He was totally not awesome, he was scary. That’s one of the main reasons I liked the Dark Knight so much. Also, consider Doctor Octopus from Spiderman 2. He’s a really smart scientist that had his world turned upside down after he creates these evil and powerful things on his back controlling him. Also, how the heck do you beat a guy that has failing chunks of metal on his back? Bane didn’t have those villainous attributes. I saw a guy that has a standard skill of hurting people with fists who was trying to take over Gotham. Where was the Bane with the tubes all over his body from the comic books where he would say, “You know Batman, sometimes with a person there’s more to them than meets the eye” with a Spanish accent? He would then rotate a dial from the back of his hand which allowed liquid, or some sort of serum, to go through the tubes which caused him to grow to a superhuman size and Bane would start totally demolishing stuff he wanted like skyscrapers, cars, and even bones. Where was that Bane, because I defiantly know that Bane has the powerful and cool villainous attributes? That Bane is awesome!

Not Enough of Batman!

There were some things that I did like about the movie such as some of the pretty sick Batman scenes, but this movie had a lot of dialogue and not enough Batman. He was out of the picture too much and that made me sad. I usually come to the movies wanting to see the hero do something totally awesome to blow my mind away, but then sometimes I leave a bit disappointed like I did in this movie. One other thing I was disappointed in was that Batman was too old. We want to see Batman at his peak, not with an injured leg (maybe a battle-scarred leg).

Where Were Catwoman’s Cats?!

I liked Catwoman and some of her moves, for example, beating up a bunch of guys and then screaming like a frightened woman when the police came to make it appear that she wasn’t capable of such a deed. They could have done a better job on the costume and she had no whip plus she had no big reason for stealing. In the cartoon she had a cause and in this movie she was just out for herself. (Plus, where were her cats?) That stuff doesn’t matter too much to me anyways.

What I Did Like About the Movie

I liked a lot of the characters like Blake and the commissioner and some other of the characters. By the way, I would totally be okay with a Robin or Nightwing movie next – that would be sweet.

I did like this movie, but was also really disappointed in it. Batman could do so much better. I would have loved it more if it wasn’t about my favorite superhero and I didn’t know the Batman from the comic books. I know some believe that Batman isn’t really a superhero, but in my mind he will always be in his prime, taking down villains and being just that: a Superhero.

The Amazing Spider-man

Did We Need Another Spider-man Movie?

Spiderman is awesome and, in fact, Spiderman is probably one of my favorite superheroes. I loved the early Spider-man movies with Toby Maguire who played an excellent job in his role and the stories were so good for each of the movies. When I saw the Spider-man movie (2002) I was blown away (probably because Spiderman was the first PG-13 and superhero movie I saw) by the action and portrayal of the character from the comic books. Well when “The Amazing Spider-man” movie (2012) came out I wasn’t that excited, because, in my opinion, they didn’t need to re-create another story-line of the Spiderman movies. I just wanted a forth movie, but I knew I had to see this one and discover for myself if it was any good. And that’s why I am here, writing this post, to let you know if the newest version of Spider-man was any good and worth your time and money.

The Story

I’ll get right down to business by telling you about a boy in high school. Now this boy’s parents mysteriously left him and no one knows why (sorry I lied, some people do, but they are not say’n) and put him under the arms of his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. This boy was a punching bag for bullies (don’t bully, if you see it go tell an adult) and the only thing he adored about school was a girl named Gwen. One day while in the attic he finds a briefcase with the name Richard Connors (name of his dad) on it and had a folder hidden in a secret compartment with paper work – paper work from a company (Oscorp) that just so happens to be in New York where he lives and just so happens to be where Gwen works. This boy infiltrated Oscorp tower and had a look around and found a circle of spiders and one spider fell and bit him and then the boy became Spiderman. By the way, I neglected to mention, this boy’s name is Peter Parker.

What I Liked About the Movie

One thing I really liked about this movie were the fight scenes. Some of the battles were pretty sick and Spiderman does some creative web tricks. Another thing I liked was the Lizard. He’s pretty awesome, although Green Goblin is more realistic but hey, this is the movies. You can do anything you like.

What I Didn’t Like About the Movie

Now we are at the bad paragraph where I say what I didn’t like – aren’t I horrible? Okay, first of all, he is the superhero Spiderman! You don’t just take off your mask and say. “Hey bro, I’m Spiderman.” You do everything you can so that someone doesn’t know your (Dramatic Gasp) Secret Identity! I’m going to tell you a secret: secrets are supposed to stay secret. No one knew Toby Maguire was Spiderman in the first movie (excluding dead people). One thing is that Peter Parker is supose to be a wimpy, nerdy guy and not a rambunctious teenager who can do cool tricks on his skateboard. By the way, if you saw someone breaking a basketball hoop and denting a football goal, would you call the Police? Speaking of webs, one reason I wasn’t as excited about this movie as I should’ve been during the cool fight scenes was because of just that: his webs. Web Shooters. Really?! I mean come on, any smart person (and I mean really smart) can make web shooters, but if Spiderman is truly Spiderman then no one else should be able to what he is doing. Lame!I also thought that Gwen fell into Peter’s arms too quickly- it took Toby two movies before Mary Jane was even interested. If you felt offended about this paragraph and disagreed, I’m sorry, I’m just passionate.

I liked this movie but there were too many effy moments. I thought the Toby movies were better. If you’re like me and you feel like you need to see it, well go for it, the Lizard might make it worth it, but I would advice on Red Box (that means rent it!).
